This is a predometer. Distrance is determined by the bouncing counted due to steps.

Here are some pictures of one of my mystery watches from my dad's collection now mine. A stop watch I think.
I am a beginner in watches. (virtually) It looks European to me, but there are no markings
I can see except whats on the winding weight. My book and the internet have been no help.
Anyone seen anything like this?

(Oops posted reply incorrectly) Hmmm, A pedometer did not come to mind. But now that you mention it ,
it does not have an escapement. I don't suppose anyone knows when it was likely made?
