Default Wm. L. Gilbert Shelf Clock

I inherited a carved shelf clock, but have very little information about it. I have determined that it is a Gilbert clock, but the label is almost completely missing, so I cannot determine the model. The front of the clock has grape vines with bunches of grapes and two birds carved into it. There is also a small glass window near the bottom through which you can see the pendulum. The clock face is gold and has two holes for the key to wind it. There is some faint writing on the back of the clock with a date of 1922 (this is an inscription from someone to someone). Any ideas?

Sounds like it might be the Gilbert "Champion N" model cabinet clock, from around 1900. These designs were pressed, not carved, into the wood.

Jeremy, that's a good lead. There is a small piece of the label still on the back and it looks like there is an N in quotation marks which would match up with what you said.
I will try to use that information for, and if I run into a dead end, I'll get a picture posted.

    Thanks to both of you.

Possibly a Gilbert "Champion M"? Here is a drawing of the "M" from a 1901/1902 Gilbert catalog.

Yes, there are the two birds on the "M."
