    It appears that on the lower left side of the case, there has been an alarm bell added to the New Haven Clock.

    If you mean by "added" you think the alarm was put in after manufacture, it appears from dial that it is original to the case.

    Wayne,
    I looked your clock up in my New Haven clock book by Tran Duy Ly. It shows a catalog picture from 1907 and the model was one of a group of three that were called the Mersey line. They came in oak or walnut and were available with a strike or gong and alarm and were about $5.00 new. The reverse painter glass in your clock is one of the designs pictured. If it's old wavey glass it might be the original.

    Thanks very much for the information - the glass is wavey, so it may be original. And the movement is working, as well as the alarm & chime.
