Seth Thomas mantel clock (89C)

Ok, this one isn't entirely new. My mother-in-law acquired this from a friend who received it in an estate. It almost got thrown out! I cleaned it up a little and oiled it and it works great at her house. Not quite the usual setup on these Adamantine clocks that you normally see.

Steve, that is a very pretty clock. I don't have any adamantine mantels. I had two just regular black ones with the usual columns and gave them to my daughter. They were not nearly as pretty as yours. I am so glad you saved it. It amazes me what some people will throw away.

Missy i am in full agreement.I am glad this one was saved.It would have been quite a loss to throw this out.I myself love it and dont have any like it.

I did post this one a while back but had a terrible picture. I thought I would post it again since it is such a nice clock. It has the original movement and keeps excellent time. Deep gong hour strike and pert bell for the half hour. Hands, face columns everything looks original. Only negative is someone wrote in small on the face F-S for the speed adjustment. I'm guessing it is either 1890's or 1910. Very nice and unusual clock with the "statues" interrupting the columns.

Steve, I learned a new word a while back. The word was caryatid = a figure of a woman used like a supporting column.

I had never heard of the word before. Isn't it great how you can learn so many different things when researching clocks?

OK, I've seen that word, but I didn't realize it applied to the statues, er, caryatids on this clock!
