Default What does the initials "RF" inside a shield stand for?

I'm sure this must stand for a watch company but I can't seem to locate the company.

Default The picture is blurry... (RE: Time992)

and it looks like there may be more letters than RF. I'm not sure that anyone can help without a clearer picture.
Where is this mark located? Is it on the watch case or on the watch movement?

Yes, the photo is blurry and I'm sorry about that. I tried to enlarge it as much as was acceptable and therefore I had quality loss. This is on a watchband buckle. It just has the letters RF in a shield, that's all. Oh, did I mention that it was 18k? So what does RF stand for? I would think it would be a quality watch or watchband company. Most of the names on the buckles reflect the name of the watch it is going on.

It might be Minerva a.k.a. Robert Freres--but I can't say with certainty.
Their watch movements are marked RF over a V.
Another possibility is that it's the mark of the band manufacturer, especially if it's stamped in an inconspicuous spot.
Hopefully, someone else has seen this type of mark on a watchband before.

    Hi,
In my Generale Ressorts mainspring catalogue it gives RF = Valjoux.

Actually, it looks much more like an acorn than a shield.
While Valjoux indeed used the the initials RF, I've never seen them any way other than stylized script.
You can see an example on this page, in the box just below where it says "Page1:"

Was the watchband purchased by itself or was it attached to a watch?
Are there any other marks on the buckle?

The only other mark on the buckle is 18k on the back. It was purchased without a watch and the band attached to the buckle is Lizard with an R inside a triangle. The band is old but doesn't look used.
