    Hi Popeye,
Your clock looks to me to be a Korean reproduction of the Waterbury "Leeds" model. These clocks were manufactured and sold sometime in the 1970's or 80's by a company called Korusa. I believe Merritts also sold them.

    Regards,
    Stan

Hi Popeye. looks like the Waterbury Leeds. The top finial looks a bit different then the one pictured in Tran's book, Waterbury Clocks And Watches . From 1893, came in oak, walnut, and cherry, 8 day time or 8 day with half hour strike, is 40 and 1/4 inches tall with 8 inch dial.

Hard to tell by the picture but the gong kind of has that reproduction look.

By the looks of the wire hanging down from the movement, it has a countwheel, something you won't find on a Korean clock. But the case looks too good to be very old. Look at the screws on the hinges. If they are Phillips or Robertson screws, it is newer.

The nut on the center shaft could be questionable as well. looks like a nut that is holding the munute hand on where most Waterbury movements were configured with a tapered pin through the center shaft. Are there any labels on the case?

Sure looks like a Leeds, but way too new looking. The gong (what I can see of it) doesn't look right either.

The springs look somewhat narrow from what little I can see. I think it would have had a cathedral gong as shown below. The photo is from a 2008 auction by R. O. Schmitt.

The wooden dial surround in popeye's picture isn't correct either. The clock also looks somewhat "short" although that could be the photo. Should be just over 40 inches (40 1/4" h).

    Best,

In the picture looking up to the movement, it looks like the mask or skirt around the dial wasn't finished on it's bottom edge ?
If so, I think an original would have been.
