    Question Bulova L1

    Hello,

We have just come across my grandfathers Bulova watch nearest we can figure it goes back to 1951. It has an L1 on the back of the watch. It's it in excellent condition it needs to be clean, but has no real wear ..I believe it's gold as well and it is a self winder.
Can anyone help me find out what the value of this watch is? Or where I could find out any information about it?
    Thank you,

We don't do value here. The watch indeed is a 1951 as indicated by Bulova's code of L1. If you post a photo of the back, we can tell you much more about the watch. The US market Bulovas were cased in the US with US made cases. Most are clearly marked "14K" for gold or "10K G.F." for gold filled. If the case back is steel, it is a sure bet that the top is G.F. The watch should have "Automatic" or "23 Jewels" if it is indeed a self winder. Bulova was at the top of the heap in these years and sold a quality product for a price equivalent to or greater than most high quality Swiss brands.

Question Re: Bulova L1 (RE: Dave Haynes)

    Hi Dave,

Umm I have looked & looked for either 14k or 10k GF but found nothing on the back, but what I did find was another number on the back.. it took me a few times too make sure that I got right..lol
Here it is, 4965943 not sure if it means anything or not, but thought I would pass it on.. as for the self winding, it states that on the front right under the "12" and the name Bulova. I found nothing else ie;automatic or 23 jewels.
Where else would I look for these ??
    Thank you for you response..

Posting some pictures of your watch would be the best way to learn anything about it.
