I don't know the size of the wheel. Looks like perhaps twelve to 18" dia. - 150 teeth. The deadbeat anchor spans 50 teeth. In operation, this one wheel clock is operated by 9.5 oz. Waita minnit: It gets better!

DANG! Tell me this never happened to you. OK; No big deal. It wasn't Christie's or sumthin' like that. Just eBay but still. I'm still moppin' up my tears. Already counted my chickens because it still stumbled at a hundred dollars with less than a day. I was CERTAIN I'd be listing this under "New Acquisitions". Alas. I won't be. Instead, I hafta tell you about the one that got away:![]()

Since there's only one wheel and it makes twelve revolutions per hour - it's not gonna run very long. For that reason, it has a complex complement of compounded pulleys - probably an endless pulley system employing two weights. I don't know how many falls were used but that means, of the 9.5 oz. used - perhaps only one or two oz. actually reached the wheel and for all this compounding still ran only ONE day!

I can tell you of one that got away. At an estate sale this past Friday I saw a rare John Child American bracket clock listed so decided to get there early, 2am, to make sure I'd be first. When I got there, I was number 3 so I did not feel it would be my lucky day. Anyway, number one ran, and I mean ran, to the clock when the doors opened and slapped his sticker on it, after telling me in line that they collect "trains". Usually when I am there at 2am, whatever is there is mine, but not that day.
2 : 00 AM: Man. That HAD to be painful. My condolences. What he didn't tell you were the trains were in the clocks he bought.
How strange. I've been to many an estate sale in my day, but have never heard of one at which you can arrive at 2:00 am, much less one in which stickers (?) are given out for buyers to place on objects they intend to purchase. May I ask what city/area you live in? Just curious. John

Interesting website. Checked shipping to Canada for a box clock, only 70 dollars, i was surprised. There are some nice clocks on that site Chris.
Yuh, but, you got to pay through a credit card. NOOO DEAAAALLL! =P
Now to look for one without paying with a credit card.
You should WELCOME credit card payment, CCF:
Credit card payment assures you all the benefits of a cardholder, including "charge back" if you're not satisfied or seller doesn't deliver. With cash, check, PayPal, etc., you have nearly no protection.
With any seller far away from me, i prefer to use my credit card. No way would i do it any other way, unless i knew them really well.
No use having a credit card iy you dont use it Chris.![]()
