    Default Illinois Watch Co. threads

The last few months I've spent some time going through the past threads of this board and reading some of the interesting discussions.

I'm posting an index here of some of our good past Illinois threads, and will start with the ones I've picked out. But I'm looking at today's posting as just the start of this index and would like to ask for everyone's help to make this better. What I'd like to hear are suggestions for ...

    • Old threads to add that I missed
    • Any threads that were included but shouldn't be (redundant, inaccurate, too many broken links, etc.)
    • Organization suggestions
    • Changes of the naming of threads in this index
    • Any other suggestions/feedback

... and in the future I would like to come back and update this list with new threads as they develop, and I will be interested in suggestions for these too.

So all input from our Illinois collectors on this is appreciated, here goes and I hope our members enjoy some reading! ...

Wow! What a great idea Fred.
Thank you for the commitment in putting this together.
It goes to show how much useful information has been assembled over the years. It just takes committed moderators and members like you to bring it all back to life.
Unfortunately I don't have anything useful to add to the index

Thanks all here and also to those who have sent emails about this!

I'll pin this thread also ... I do have other "index" type threads in mind ... but I don't want to continue pinning each of these because this would clutter the top of this forum too much. So probably with the next one I will replace the pinned threads with a "master index" type thread that simply links to each of these more specific "index" type threads.

Are there any threads about the Santa Fe Special or the Abe Lincoln watches?

I'm sure there are some discussions of these on the board, but off hand I don't remember any that were the type of comprehensive overview that I tried to include in the above list of threads.

I'd say give the search feature of this board a try, but if you don't find one that answers what you are looking for than post your questions in another thread to this board and we will make a good discussion happen and then we will have one to add to the index above.

    Hi Fred,

How about a recording of multi color or picture Illinois dials? I know from looking for Illinois watches that they did not seem put out a lot with these types of dials so I would think it would make for interesting viewing. When I do see them I sure do try to purchase them.

I know I would also be keen to see all examples of 17J models 3's, not just the Bunns or 105's. Could be too broad but I just don't see too many that are fully jewelled.

    Unique damaskeening patterns?

Is it worth first run or last run of Bunn's? It may be too broad.

Great work so far Fred. Very good for us Illinois collectors.

    Regards,

    Nigel.

    Hi Nigel,

You're right about the 17J model 3's - there were probably no more than 6000 or so of these made in grade Miller, 65, 101 and 103.

Here's some pics, and morre pics of these would be nice!
