Gilbert Parlor Clock - runs how long?
Hi All,
I have a Gilber parlor clock, no model no on movement, but the remains of the label say Gilbert and the model is 'Thal...' the rest is missing.
Anyway. it has small springs and the main spring is run out after @ 3 days. How long should this clock run? The spring is @ 3/8" wide. I don't know how long, but it's not the same size a smost American parlor clocks, obviously. Any help would be appreciated.

Maus, sounds like you have a 30 hour clock. Running 3 days would not be unusual for these.

Tran Duy Ly's Gilbert clocks shows a Thalba model with a one-day movement. It's 16 inches tall, 5 inch dial and the case has 7 "scallops" across the top in a staight row. Sort of a 1/2 roll below that.

Re: Gilbert Parlor Clock - runs how long?
Hey Guys,
I guess this would make a good "Cottage Clock". As I had read or heard they would run for 2-3 days so that if you wind and set it on Friday when you arrive it would run and strike until Sunday when most people headed back home. An interesting concept and believeable as well.
