Ooops - you forgot the most important step:

    9. Sell it on Ebay as a "restored clock" that works great.

Bang, is this the same clock you have been tinkering with for the last year or so?? Come on, don't be so cheap. If you've given up on the original movement, put a new Regula movement in it. The case looks large enough you could put an 8 day movement into it. It's a cuckoo clock, not a quarts-quarts clock

Nah, this is one somebody gave me. They just wanted to get rid of it. Wise choice. Nice case, though. As the reigning eggspurt on Schatz 8-days, I'll probly restore it right. (PENDULUM quarts movement, for starters)*

I haven't had the courage to put in a battery, see what kind of noise it makes.

Oh yeah. As I recall, I did it by relocating the staple in the cuckoo door. Go figure.

    Westminster. The noise is Westminster.

SWEET MAMA! A Westminster cuckoo clock!

    EEEEK!

In revenge, I pulled out the noisemaker, and threw the rest of the quarts away.
