Default Question about Jefferson Golden Secret

I recently ran across a Jefferson electric clock with a square dial. There is one currently on ebay called a golden secret clock. The clock I looked at did not have glass. To be honest, I thought it had been broken out. When I looked at the one on ebay, it looks like there isn't any glass in that dial either. Were these made with no glass in the dial?

I haven't seen one of these in person, but I'm quite sure they do not have glass.

Default Question about Jefferson Golden Secret (RE: jparker)

The Golden Secret was, I believe, the only one with no glass. There is a picture of it in the reference above.

Thanks, for your help on the Golden Secret. I was lucky enough to buy 8 Jeffersons. In the lot were a Golden Secret, a Bowler and a Helmsman. That was a good clock day! Again, thanks Jim

Default Question about Jefferson Golden Secret (RE: jparker)

I'm glad you found it helpful. I have seen the bowler in a shop, but didn't get it. I'm rethinking the wisdom of that move. Congrats on a very good clock day.

Default Question about Jefferson Golden Secret (RE: jparker)

The Golden Secret doesn't have a glass, because the minute hand is driven by a Bowden cable from the base, rather then from a rotating glass disc.
    Interesting clock.
    Cheers, Fred
