Default timby solar clock and barometer

my clock mentor just acquired this trimby solar clock and barometer... not originally a matched set, but the seller wanted to keep them together.

the case has probably been re-finished. the stains on the dials are almost certainly nicotine.

    a very cool clock....

Is the mercury in the barometer there. It looks funny in the picture.

    Bruce and All,

A VERY hard to find clock! I've only seen them on books, never in person. It looks to be in pretty good shape, and is a true find! Thanks for sharing, and congrats to your mysterious mentor!

    All my best,

    George

Great finds. Thank you for sharing.

Theodore Timby was quite an inventive man from the time he was a youth. There is a 1950 article about the evolution of his solar timepiece.
    http://docs.nawcc.org/Bulletins/1950.../45/45_247.pdf

There is also a 1980 Bulletin that describes a few of his inventions beyond the clock.
    http://docs.nawcc.org/Bulletins/1980...09/209_628.pdf

And, if you'd like to learn more, you can do a patent search to learn a little more about his various inventions.

    Thanks again for sharing.
