    Default New Addition Schatz

I picked this up in Red Bluff, CA. The reason I bought it was the light green color and the excellent original condition. What do you members think of this 1953 Schatz?

    Hi Les,
Looks like a nice clock. I like these mid-century 400 day clocks because I can collect a wide variety of them and they don't break the bank. Perhaps someday they might be worth more (after everyone else throws theirs out). I like these uncommon color ones also.

Very nice find! Those hands are not too common. Does it have the third wheel barrel?

    Is the click bent??

Worse than bent, it's folded over and the ratchet wheel is also damaged. Both will need to be replaced, but letting down the mainspring could be an adventure . . .

Trying to figure out how that could happen, maybe by someone trying to wind it clockwise instead of counterclockwise and really forcing the issue until they broke the key or whatever. Looking closely I can see the mainspring arbor is cocked in the ratchet square in the direction it would be if wound backwards.

Nice one, colours are very pleasant. I just got mine going (lacking time) and it seems to be keeping very good time - find it on my albums. Basic condition isn't so good though, stress cracks on base, adjusters missing, dome has stress marks (plastic) on top, but goes well. same plate 49.

    Les,

Here is the model number from a 1950s sales brochure. The brochure also had 1221 in red and 1222 in blue.
