Default Illinois Getty 17J grade 186

I went to to a NAWCC Mart this morning in Newtown Connecticut and saw a lot
of great clocks and watches (I picked up a sleeve wrench and some other stuff).

When I got home I found this watch that I had purchased in my mail box.
    It's an 1900 Illinois 16 size 17j Grade 186. (1522612)
From my research(on this site) it seems
that Fred Hansen(and Kent, and many others not to slight anyone) have put up a
lot of very useful information on
    Illinois watches(including this grade).(Thank you)

They made 2620 of these(so not rare or uncommon). I noticed that if I tilt
the watch I can see remnants of a two tone finish(on the movement) that looks mostly worn off.
    I like it.

This is quite a loud ticking watch. lol

This is a lovely grade of Illinois, with the gold gear train with polished and rounded spokes. I picked up my gr.186 at a swap meet over 40 years ago. Like yours, the movement has no name on it but has gilded screws and regulator. The dial is marked, I am reasonable certain, for Edward Hufnagel who was a jeweler in Mt. Vernon, NY. He was elected president of the American National Retail Jewelers’ Association in 1921, and also was president of the Horological Institute of America later in the ‘20s.

This is one of those purchases where I didn't have the watch
in my hand when I bought it. The photos were only "so so"(
neither very good nor very bad)
so when I took the first of the photos above, and saw this movement up close yesterday
I was really happy with this beautiful watch. Thanks Jerry for sharing photos of your
    PL 186.
