I need a spring barrel cap for this movement. Anyone have a source for the part.
Its a skeleton type clock sitting on a wooden base with a glass dome over it.

The only numbers I see is S 81 on the back plate

    thanks
    John

Hey, John. First of all, it's sinful to have a work area that clean. Must be nice!!!
Now, about the cap: does the one you have not fit?

Try turning it over. They won't lock in upside down sometimes.

If the center hole is worn it needs to have a bushing inserted.

If the arbor is badly worn it will need to be turned true on a lathe. Then rebush the cap as ds just mentioned. Make it a stepped bushing if you can, peened on the inside. Or at least a bushing that's a little thicker than the cap, peened into a chamfer on both sides.
I agree with Wow, you need to clutter that place up a bit. You will never get anywhere with a workplace that clean! ☺

I was hoping to purchase a new cap or spring barrel but if they are not available then that's what I will do.

    thanks

I work in computer design. There was one fellow that at the end of the day
his desk was so clean that you'd think his office space was not even being
    used.
I'd always had the saying " empty desk, empty mind " but it surely didn't
apply to this fellow. I can only assume he kept his desk in his mind.
There was never any lacking in his work. He was at the top of the best.
It is a shame he died of cancer a few ago. He was only 52 years old.
I see different strokes for different folks.
Now I have to go and clean my desk.

All this talk about a clean work area. Next time I post a picture of something, I'll stage it with rusty bolts. bent up clock parts and an ash try full of cigar butts. HA..

Oh, trimmed the hole in the cap round, made a bushing, pressed it in, reamed bush to fit arbor, clock is running fine.
