    Ralph,
Thank you, Jim’s site has a wealth of information doesn’t it?

    Doug,
You’re right of course; I was referring only to the major gauge manufacturers.
I looked for pictures of Havard and Boston marine clocks I once had but I can’t find them. I think they may have had screw on bezels as well.

    Regards,
    D~

    Hello Shawn,

You have to be an NAWCC member and can access it from the website.

My 10 inch nickel brass case is hinged bezel.

1899 Waltham catalog mentions the initial order by Star Brass and my clock is probably one of them.

Second hand seems too small to be useful.
    Is it the escape wheel?

Robert, I honestly don't know for sure but I don't think so.

On a balance wheel it would be the next wheel back from
the escapement. The escapement turns too fast.

    I have a 37 size car clock,
It is interesting to consider whether something like this was once used to place into ships clocks or the like...

Doug, Waltham Marine clock came today and it is indeed a screw bezel, very heavy clock. Also, Andy was right on with the serial number which is 50,250. The case is twelve inches in front and slightly larger in the back. The dial is ten inches and the escapement runs across the top of the round movement plates. I was also pleased that the clock started running in less than one turn of the key. Thanks again for all the info and nice pictures, Shawn

    Hello Shawn,

I would like to see movement photograph. I suspect movement looks similar to one used in Waltham Willard banjo clock. Double circular plates with 11 jewels and escapement mounted on top between the plates. See two attached images.

Andy, I will try to take it apart again in the next few days. Yes, from the one glance I took, they are very similar, Shawn
