    Question Need help identifying markings on pocket watch

    Hi everybody,

    I'm new to the forum and i hope i can learn alot here.
    Just bought my first pocket watch and i need some help to identify the markings.
    Can somebody help me with this? Any tips/websites are welcome to!

    the A in a triangle was the trademark of Alpina

    The crown and moon are German import marks;
    the [ 0.800 ] is a Swiss silver purity mark.

    Your movement is probably Swiss;
    unless it was manufactured by one
    of the larger, better-known makers,
    the movement serial number won't
    be of use.

    Can you post a movement image?
    Someone here might recognize it,
    or give you more information
    based on the mechanical details.

    Hi,

    Looks like a fairly base movement..but I couldn't identify the source. However, if you check this http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-...ranfft&2&2uswk, and browse through the Alpina stem wind and set movements, you may find one similar.
