Lancaster Watch Co. West End
I picked this nice Lancaster Watch Co. movement from Dave, I'm originally from near Lancaster PA so I like collecting watch related items from the area.
Movement is fairly clean, and with a little TLC it came to life and at least as far as the hour hand is concerned it kept decent time. I see these listed as both 13j and 15j, this one appears to be 13 as there is no pallet hole jewels.
A couple questions i had though.
1. Replacement hands: does anyone have an idea which company's hands (ie. Waltham, Hamilton, Elgin etc) will fit on this movement?
2. Case: I'm going to recase this in a coin silver open face key wind case. Does anyone have one of these watches and can confirm that there is holes for both winding and setting in the back of the case? Or is there just the one for winding?
3. Year of manufacture? I read that the Lancaster Watch Co ceased manufacture under that name in 1886, pocket watch database lists this as having an 1890 date of manufacture. But the data is far from complete so I'm sure errors are there.

Re: Lancaster Watch Co. West End
31 thousand serial number would be in the 2nd year of production on Lancaster Watch Co.
The minute hands for the watch are very small holed and will be almost inpossible, so you can take a hand from an swiiss and enlarge the hole with a broach.
This old thread will give some ideas on casing it.
