    Default Telechron Electric help needed.

A friend asked me to try to get this going but I really know nothing about these movements. The second hand sometimes moves very slowly and sometimes not at all. I have tried to picture all marks.

Your Telechron movement might be replaceable. If not, it will need to be taken apart and rebuilt. Without a lathe, you won't be able to do that yourself. Do a search on Ebay to see if one like yours is available. Be cautious of statements like "untested, for parts", etc.

Try http://www.telechronclock.com/ I purchased a rebuilt rotor from them and was perfect.

You might get more response if you posted this in the Electric Horology section. One of the moderators might move it for you.

Thanks to all who have answered. One more thing - how do I remove the hour hand? I want to try Stewey's suggestion and also clean the gears. Removing the first 2 hands was easy but I don't see how the hour hand comes off and don't want to damage anything. And thanks, Bangster. I didn't know about that category.

I would think that the hour hand is just pressed on like the others and you should be able to gently pry it off. Take a fork; spread one tine slightly away from another; place a protective piece of paper on the dial; and gently lever the hand off with the spread tines of the fork. Perhaps let a little oil penetrate the hand-shaft around the hand first. I should add that while you're levering, do it in sort of a see-sawing motion so that you don't bend the hand arbor.

Thanks so much, Stewey! I used lighter fluid and spray lubricant. I applied each around the little gear and let them soak in a few times. So far it's running well!
