    Default TIME vs "Vintage Time"

I saw the thread on G-Shocks and something interesting came to mind...

    http://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?1...-G-Shock-Rocks!

Being a vintage guy, I love my old watches and collect them passionately.
My collection is world class, and I love the look and feel of a mechanical timepiece
    more than you can imagine.
I also work in Live TV.

I have had my G-Shock since 2001 and it has been to Afghanistan and Iraq 12 times each.
It is a very tough watch that synchs itself with the Atomic Clock system.

I need to know the Exact TIME for work and "Vintage Time" doesn't work.

I just take the G-Shock for what it is compared to a Mechanical Timepiece...

It is inexpensive and does a rugged job (for the price)
    A good "Beater" watch.

In a day where kids tell the time on their Cell Phones, I guess we should be happy that some have a watch on the wrist.

This may be a foolish question but why does it say ILLINIOS on the dial? I thought it was called ILLINOIS Watch Co., but I may well be wrong, as I don't know much about watches.

Not enough room on the dial, maybe? Most of the Illinois wrist watches only have the single name on them. Some of their older pocket watches had Illinois Watch Co on them though.

Must be nice to be able to call a $1000/plus watch, inexpensive.

No, I meant why is ILLINOIS spelled ILLINIOS on the dial.

Good eye, and therefore good question, JTD! I guess a dial refinisher goofed up a bit. Funny. Nice watch though.

Think about it - a century after the wrist watch began displacing the pocket watch, because it was more convenient and didn't require you pulling something out of your pocket to check the time, the wristwatch is being displaced because, as my nephew said, "Why do I need a wrist watch when I can pull this thing out of my pocket to check the time?"

    Great to see you GJ!
Anyway that Illinois photo in the post was an error meant for another thread.
I am a vintage guy, but the point of this thread was just to say that sometimes the time is just the time
when you need it. The G-Shock comes through when that is necessary. At least it is on the wrist!

What an interesting thought re pocket to wrist to pocket. Guess the smart watch combos continue the cycle back to the wrist. Proof behind the adage "What goes around, comes around". Thanks for sharing!
