Default Why is "C" cell quartz clock running fast?

The 29" diameter wall clock from Target at 4 p.m. is reading 4:51 !
Never heard of a quartz movement being inaccurate or fast.

In place of the 6, this clock has another smaller AA quartz clock which has a only second hand.
I removed the second hand and attached an hour hand set to China time.

Just discussed this with Youqing and the clock has now stopped!

Even quartz clocks can run fast. If it is more that a few seconds
a day, it is either a failed crystal or a failing divider in the chip.

For a quartz clock, running much too fast is certainly death! Many repairable problems can make it run slow. Simple problems like a low battery or Hands scraping on the dial. Also, less common problems such as a broken pivot on the rotor. A common failure if the clock was dropped. Basically, any problems that cause too much friction in the movement.

If it's fast, it's toast unless it's worth trying to repair the electronics. The only time I've done electronics repair on a quartz movement is with A Rhythm clock. I can't find replacement movements for Rhythm clocks anywhere.

If your clock is under warranty, take it back. These cheap Chinese quartz movements were never made heavy duty enough to drive 14 inch hands

Try a Merritt's P-1561 and make sure the minute is counterbalanced.

There are High-Torque movements available for clocks with big dials and hands.

All true however, if a quartz clock runs fast, swap the circuit or the movement.

    Light bulbs simply go out.
