Default Cuckoo sings if the hands are moved backwards, but not if they go forwards

    Dear Friends,

My cuckoo clock, an Azura, has a cuckoo that sings if I move the hands backwards, or if I pull the little string which allows me to advance the hours the cuckoo sings. But if I move the hands forwards there is just a "Thunk", and the cuckoo only opens the door a tiny crack.

You can see the mechanism in this video, where I advance the hands clockwise, then anti-clockwise:

    https://youtu.be/i9DqwKw9F84

    How can I repair it?

Thanks for your time! (and expertise)

I can't tell for sure but it sounds like the wheel timing is
off such that the warning is not right, leaving the maintenance
    cam in the wrong position.
Warning should be long enough such that the maintenance lever
can fall back into the slot on the maintenance cam.
We'd be better able to tell if the movement was out of the case.
The video doesn't show much of the movement's action.

Is this a new development or is the clock new to you? I can see that there is no warning run. What is causing that is not clear. If it's a new to you clock, it may be installed or adjusted wrong. If it's a new situation in a clock that has been acting correctly we'll have to go deeper.
A man with a clock always knows the time. A man with two clocks is never sure.

A bit risky but you could try to remove the front dial, on most cases is only nailed but not glued. If you remove it you could take a video showing what's going on inside.

Edit: I found those pictures of an azura cuckoo movement on an ebay listing. As it is endend now I think I can link them here:

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Vintage-Celes...b/201422309643

On the front side there's what looks like a lever with a spring. Just blindly guessing but it could be the spring on your movement (if it's like the one pictured) may be loose and only when you move the minute hand backwards the lever is forced down...as said just blindly guessing.

It is not likely to show much behind the dial. This
is a count wheel, not a rack and snail.
It is better to remove the movement.

You will need to remove the flutes first. Use some string and tie the bellows
closed so you don't tear the bellows.
They are usually attached with one screw
and a small brad. Remove the screw and then us a knife to pry it off the brad.
    Carefully unhook the lifting wire.

Does the minute hand turn very easily? Only thing I can think of is that the spring clutch is 'loose' and doesn't have enough tension.

    Dear Friends,

I removed the movement from the case - I've never done anything like that in my life before !

Here is the movie where I show the backwards action - which cause the cuckoo to sing, and the forwards action, which does not, from several angles:

Thanks again for your time and expertise

I noticed that when going forward, the count lever popped up.
It shouldn't catch. It should lift smoothly and go into warning.
When it falls after passing the hour it should start the strike.
I've never seen one quite like this movement but it is a count
wheel clock most all run on the same principles.
The wire to follow the cam is a little unusual.
I'd like to see the front of the movement when it makes a complete
pass. It is not interesting to see you back it up to strike.
It may be a symptom but we need to see the front when it completes
the lift and fall of the J lever ( even if it doesn't look like a J ).
We need to see the action when moving the hand the full 360 degree,
    not just till warning.
It also looks like you may have some other timing issues as the hammer shouldn't
    move when going into warning.

    Hi Tinker,

Here is the 360 degree rotation seen from the front:

The youtube runs fine now, but I cannot tell what is wrong - cuckoos such as yours are not something I have worked on.
