Default Going to look this afternoon.

I am going to look at a local clock this afternoon, looking for a project. It is supposedly a 1936 bench made tallcase. Mahogany, missing some parts, finials, face door knob and who knows what else. I have attached a picture, what I need info on is what types of movements had the offsed winding arbors as you can see in the picture.

    So, any ideas are welcome.

Sorry, what I wanted to know what makers movement might be in the clock. I am not familiar with what movement makers would have been using the offset winding arbors around 1936 when the clock was made. In the photo above it appears that the two arbors are at 9 and 4 on the face.

    Thanks again!

it's hard to see any detail as the photo's kind of small.

we're also not supposed to discuss active listings/sales.

that said, it looks like an attractive clock. if the price is right and it resonates, go for it! 8-)

No maker I have ever seen used offset wind arbors like that. Could be a bit of a bodged repair.

I've seen that sort of assymetry on continental bracket clocks from the 18th century but it never looks good.
Nick, lots to learn, late starter.

Yes, on bracket clocks, spring driven. Perhaps Harold is right...bodged repair or the marriage of an available movement to a home built case. Oh well, I am going to blow it off.

sorry... didn't notice the offset arbor holes... the time side looks ok, the strike side is not even aligned w/ the 9.... hmmm.

i still like the clock, though... here's a lightened photo that shows the door and hinges... might still be worth checking out... you never know!

Thanks Smike! I had not even noticed the hinges. The clock has weights abd a pendulum, don't know if chain or cable, the case is definately worth a closer look but given the odd movement I'm not sure a different T/S movement would fit in the case.

I looked, clock made by a PA clockmaker. His own design, made case and movement. Just too much damage to mess with.
