Question Dating late 1800's Puritan Watch Case

Greetings all.... Is there a source for dating serial numbers on 1800's Puritan watch cases? If not, could I get your opinions on approximate year this case was made? Serial number in the case is 354486, I believe it is a "0" size, and thanks in advance. Click image for larger version.

My opinion is 1890's may be likely, and the cases I remember having seen with this marking have been thin gold plate over brass in spite of the misleading 14K stamp.
