Default RFC Mark IVA (Royal Flying Corps)

I just pick up a RFC Mk IVA PW. Its missing the crown (onion shape) and stem. Any idea of the length of the stem?

I think you need to find a stem that fits with the winding gear inside the watch and then cut it to length.

    Hi Barry,

You're also going to need a ratchet wheel, because yours has four teeth missing.

That is a "Eterna" manufacture Barry, should be a Calibre 83 and around 19 Lignes size.

It's interesting to see the War Department mark complete with what is known as the "broad arrow" on the case-back.

There is a little bit of information in this rather long article: scroll down to "Watches, Non-Luminous, Mark IVA."

Looks like 6 teeth Graham, and your are right, it definitely needs a ratchet wheel.
