Default Tooth fairy makes a deposit

So, this stuff showed up Friday for lunch. An interesting lot of bits and pieces and parts. I don't think there are enough parts of any one kind make a single whole movement. There are 3 or 4 sets of Hoadley 30hr bone bushed tall clock plates, 2 sets of mahogany (ST) plates, a set of Torrington plates, and a raft of loose parts and plates....a couple that invite some additional investigation. Just not the sort of stuff we find down this direction often.....I had best watch it or I will be in the wood works repair business...(NO!)

Jim, you could make a fortune on steam punk out of all that!

    A very interesting hoard, nevertheless
You'd never run across anything like that at this side of the pond...

OK, Jim, curiosity is getting the best of me. I don't think I have enough experience to recognize the Easter egg. Pray, tell, my friend, what it is or at least tell me which picture the rare treasure can be found...

Is it the picture of the single plate with the odd escapement suspension?

George, that would be the Easter egg. Ives, circa 1815+/-. It is an early and quite rare example. I was a bit surprised to find it, most everything else in the stack was pretty pedestrian. And yes, we do have a home for it. I am aware of another that needs a proper front plate, some person has carved up the one that is in the clock now. Not really the holy grail, but certainly far better and rare than what we usually find....

    Jim,

I've so happy for you! It certainly looked unusual to my most inexperienced eye. Quite intriguing! I know you must be genuinely thrilled to have stumbled upon it. A true find indeed.

And, RM, thanks to you, I will not be able to sleep tonight due to the frightening picture you so kindly attached to this thread. I'm afraid to ask, but where do you get these monstrosities?

    Best to all,

    George

    Banned??

You mean because I didn't get permission to use the photo ??

RE: memory erasure. It is permanently etched, I'm afraid.

I suspect BANNED due to the incredibly disturbing nature of the photograph...

George, here is a bit more why I mentioned there was an Easter egg in the photos. Here is the proper home of that funny front plate.

A shame they didn't leave more components of that Ives beauty inside the box...

Oh, my! What a fabulous and rare clock! You mentioned that you had a home for the plate- please share pictures of the clock when you get the plate in place. I'm looking forward to it! Why, oh why can't I ever find the rare stuff

    Best,

    George
