Default Rolex adjusted to seven positions

I own a 1946 Rolex marked "Adj to 7 seven positions". Any idea whether this is :

    1) 5 positions + 2 temperatures
    2) 6 positions + isochronism
    3) 4 positions + 2 temperatures + isochronism
    4) includes an od angled 7th position unique to Rolex

Temp and Iso are not "positions" so 1 to 3 above would be misleading... Then again, 4 is far fetched...

Is it a chronograph? Have a 1942 Lemania chronometer marked chronograph I think its 7p included a couple for when running as a timer. artbissell

Have you tried contacting Rolex and asking them?

I hear they keep pretty good records.

Artbissell: no, it is not a chronograph. Central sweep seconds, movement 710.

Hawk53: I have yet to find any coordinates where Rolex invites questions or hint they will answer. Do you have an email or phone number?

Sorry no, I don't collect or appreciate "Rolex" watches.

Likely not repeated position tests so probably two positions in addition to stem up and down at 3 and 9. art

I know it sounds strange but Rolex do not enter into e-mail correspondence with the public. I did not believe this, but have discovered it's true.

However, they do answer letters sent by old fashioned mail. Their address is

    Rolex SA,
    rue François-Dussaud 3-7,
    1211 Geneva 26,
    Switzerland.

For what it's worth, the email address is info@rolex.ch - no harm in trying, you might get lucky, but don't hold your breath.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. That email inbox does not seem to accept incoming messages any more.

I met a watchmaker who works at a Rolex certified jewelery here in Ottawa, Canada. He confirmed that in the early 40s Rolex put out a few movements that were ajusted at the 5 COSC positions plus 12 o'clock up (a 6th position rarely tested) plus a unique seventh position that is crown at 45 degrees angle with ground. Imagine making a military salute... This would make the "adjusted to" portion of the statement true.
