    Default Marion Edwin Rollo

Hey I have an United States Watch Company Edwin Rollo Serial #4013

Trying to figure out what year it was made and how many jewels it has.

It seems there is not alot of information about these that is correct on the internet so I was hoping one of you fellow watch lovers would have a book that could give me a better estimate thanks!Click image for larger version.

They were introduced in 1868 and the company was out of business by 1877 so somewhere in that date range

The Muir & Krause book on US Marions state the the Rollo was made thru out the company life, so this model is one of the more common US Marions. The 4 digit SN would put production at around 1867-68. It says the grade 40 (Rollo) made in 1867 had 7-1/2 pairs of jewels,ie 15 jewels. The pic in the book of the grade 40 has, I believe, an SN 4524--tough to read.

Nice watch - your example is quite early being the 13th by serial number from the first run of Edwin Rollo grade.
