Default problems with search and other features

I assume the downtime was the move to new software. Welcome back I am sure it is a lot of work.

If I try to search I get this

    connection to localhost:9312 failed (errno=111, msg=Connection refused)

I thought ok I'll try looking up my old posts as I can find it that way but I get the same message.

I'm at work so this is a windows machine using IE. It could be a local problem as our network has aggressive filtering but I assumed as I could log on it might be a board problem.

    thanks

We're recompiling and rebooting the Search module after yesterday's crash.

It should be up and active again shortly.

9312 is the Sphinx search engine port. The search demon does not start reliably after a system reboot.

So yesterday's downtime was unplanned? What crashed and how is the org planning to avoid this again?

And FYI, I just had an error in trying to publish that last post, it kept telling me there was a database error

The physical server which hosts the MB suffered a drive malfunction. It has now been repaired and the entire server is scheduled to be replaced with a newer model within the next few weeks.

Since the repaired server has been restarted, the database is being recompiled. The entire process may take several hours. The database has been expressing an error relating to the corruption of the "autosave" function, which tracks users who are engaged in posting via open edit boxes.

Such errors should grow fewer as the db repairs itself. Meanwhile, refreshing the browser seems to clear the problem.

The database repair had gotten hung up on a corrupted temporary table. I believe the database has all been repaired at this point.

Please post here if you see further problems.
