    Default Ansonia Kitchen Clock

Picked up at a antique store recently. I'll take the face off and take a picture of the works, first chance I get. It's a 1 day work I believeClick image for larger version.

It is likely an eight day clock. the work of removing the hands and dial is about eight minutes max. It appears that this clock has an additional kitchen timer/alarm?

It has an alarm, which you set with the brass dial in the center. Sadly, there is no 'off' switch......you just have to let it run down (fortunately the subsidiary spring, which drives the alarm, is not very long!)

Which is why being known as a kitchen clock, this alarm was probably one of the earliest kitchen timers.

If I had to guess I'd say it's a 30 hr. clock based on the close position of the winding arbors to the center of the dial.
    Nice looking clock!

This is the Fulda. It's shown in Tran Duy Ly's book on Ansonia clocks (arlingtonbooks.com) from the 1886 catalogue. It is described only as a one-day time and strike. It might have been offered a few years either side of 1886.

You'd know. None of the 30 hour movements have ever crossed my path.

The tag that was on it described it as a 1 day but I'd say 30 hour is a better description. It needs wound every couple days. Also forgot to mention it just counts the hours, nothing at half.

    Thanks for the information!

I would be whining about winding so often. Surprised that anything is less than 8-day.
