    Indeed Rough...> name?

However my cat is not a feral cat. It stays indoors and only goes out when we are at the RV park on a harness and leash.

    Roughbarked:

Did you ever have a cat sit on your lap and look at you with loving eyes.

Roughbarked: Is man that far advanced of the cat? Did you hear the news about Fort Lauderdale today or yesterday?

Yeah. I've had a lot of cats lie to me. Small minds are easily fooled.

As I try to follow this thread I am trying to figure out whose "small minds are easily fooled".

    David:

Roughthread's post was not worthy of a reply. Cats are the occupiers of millions and millions of homes worldwide.

    Dan,

I think that Roughbarked posts are indeed worthy of a reply. He /she is referring to all cats as feral cats from what I can tell. Of course we know this to be false. But sometimes false stuff dominates.

All of our cats have been from shelters and have been neutered / spayed. I have lost count of how many we have had and enjoyed. None of mine have destroyed the environment around them. Well let me clarify..they don't drive gas guzzling cars, keep buying cell phones they don't need... I think you get my drift.

    All the best

What may seem true or false depends on fact and all cats that aren't kept inside an enclosure or left in their natural habitat, are feral monsters spread across the world by people ifgnorant of the fact that the cat has you conned.

So, roughbarked, what is your "animal" of choice that is totally tamed, a pit bull? a snake? dogs pollute more than any other animal urinating on every object they sniff. How nice are kangaroos, emus, ostriches. The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What bad experience did you have as a child that makes you so anti cat?

There are areas in Australia where feral cats have decimated native fauna and it is understandable why some people have a dislike of cats in general. Personally, I recognise there is a difference between a domestic and a feral cat. However, I also recognise that a domestic cat is only one missed meal away from being feral. All owners of cats or dogs should ensure their animals are secure and not free to roam their neighbourhood. That is how I see it.

Well interesting for sure. It seems pretty binary. You either love cats or don't. However with all self selected surveys, it is only those with strong opinions that respond.

But back to Dan's original observation / comment. Why don't more folks respond to his posts and just have a general conversation. Sure this is a horology forum, but surely there is a bit of time... just perhaps a little, to discuss other kinds of things with fellow colleagues that share this space. Of course there is no pressure to join in. But why the negativity? A neutered family pet cat turns into a feral menace?

When I first joined this forum I felt that there was some comradery. There were people freely sharing different approaches, and discussing the pros and cons...but not all that judgemental. Today not so much from my perspective.

I think it may be prudent for the moderators to review how our message board is doing and see if it needs some " friendly tweeks".

    All the best

David when someone asks for participation in their threads and they dont respond to you, you begin to feel perhaps they are not really interested in your response. I enjoy very much talking about quite a few things, we do not all share the same interests and thats good, as it makes things interesting for all of us. As far as sharing i have shared a fair bit, perhaps not as much as others, i enjoy this mb and the many posters like you David.

Kevin thank you for picking this up.

My point is not about whether we share the same interests or have different opions. I am good with that,it is really about how we express our differences.

I dont have a lot of spare time and i work odd hours. So my time is very limited, perhaps why my interests here are more on a learning mode than a social mode. I have a horology page on FB and i do enjoy the social interactions i have there. And i do try to come across as a socialble person on this mb.
