Default Re: Huge Maritime Auction in Westport Ct, This Past Weekend (By: Tom McIntyre)

Looking for suggestions or help on this auction. I won 5 auctions with about 30 Chronometer boxes and they were picked up by the recommend shipping agent, a UPS store #185 in Fairfield, Ct.

She wants $1500 to ship the items and I said Wow! so I did a search and found 5 trucking companies for about $300. Now she wants $400 to pack them up and won't call anyone for a pick up and wouldn't give me a weight or how many cartons unless I pay her for packing them?

Now she wants storage fee's until I pay for the packing.

I just wanted to update this and hopefully someone else can benefit from it.

Ralph suggested I contact uship.com for bids.

I had the UPS store pack the boxes up at her outrageous fee of $400(most workers in my town don't make that in a week) and they resulted in 3 boxes weighing 368 lbs.

I received 6 bids from uship and took the 2nd which was UPS Freight service for $266 + uship fee of $50 and they will be picked up Tomorrow and delivered to me at my home address in several days with tracking.

So I will end up with a cost of$716 instead of $1500.

I will register a complaint with the auction company with details and the BBB.

Some pics of the Chronometer boxes that arrived safely.

I ended up with 43 boxes and 3 had inter boxes, although they don't match the outer boxes.
