Any idea where in NYC this photo was taken? I have tried Googling the Cory Hotel and Blakely and Co to no avail.

Somewhere near Coney Island....perhaps on Surf Ave?

Watch out for the spelling of "Blakley"

It's definitely Manhattan. The street lights are a Manhattan type, not Brooklyn, and Brooklyn did not have underground electric supply for the streetcars (the middle rail with the slot in it serves that purpose). The only other borough of the city it could be is the Bronx, but the scene doesn't look like the Bronx. I am referring this wonderful picture to some experts on NYC geography and history to see if they can identify the exact location.

The parts of the description referring to Coney Island and boardwalk are misleading. The picture was taken on 8th Avenue, looking towards West 48th Street in Manhattan. Many of the buildings pictured, including the one housing the Cort Hotel, are still there. Here is the Google street view: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater

Yes, that's it, Dick, thank you. No clue about what happened to the clock.

    Great Photo

No more Ringling Brothers Circus, and no more Elephants in the Circus in New York.
