Default Webinar: Comic and Cartoon Character Watches

WEBINAR: COMIC AND CARTOON CHARACTER WATCHES: A RELATIVELY CONCISE AND UTTERLY BIASED HISTORY

COLUMBIA, PA: The NAWCC will present “Comic and Cartoon Character Watches: A Relatively Concise and Utterly Biased History” with Jeffrey Schuldenfrei Sunday, October 18, from 7 to 8 p.m. Popular comic strip and cartoon characters and their history will be featured.

Schuldenfrei will discuss the origins of these novelty watches and stress timepieces that he considers milestones of the genre. His personal favorites will be highlighted and he will share fun facts about them. Quiz questions will be included for participants (self-graded!).

Schuldenfrei is a physician who has a large and eclectic watch collection; part of his collection comprises character novelty watches. As a child growing up in the late 50s and early 60s, he admittedly spent WAY too much time reading comic strips and watching cartoons—good ones, lousy ones—he watched them all, and he watched them repeatedly. His continued passion for comics and cartoons, combined with his passion for watch collecting, led him to collect character watches and research their history.
