Reassembling a Clock Movement
The following is excerpted from This Thread.
GENERAL STEPS FOR REASSEMBLING A CLOCK MOVEMENT

Let's assume you disassembled the movement by removing the back plate (though it really doesn't matter which one).
•Put the front plate face down on something that will hold it steady and flat, like a roll of masking tape.
•Put each of the wheels and parts into their correct holes on the front plate. This is where the pictures you took will help.
•It helps to have it up on a box or something, at approximately eye level.
•Set the back plate on top of the movement. In a perfect world, all of the pivots and things would line up perfectly with their holes, the plate would drop in place, and you'd have it. This is not a perfect world.
•If you like rubber bands, now's the time to put one on around the movement, to hold the plates in place.
•Myself, I don't use them. I put the two bottom pillars into their holes in the plate, and attach the nuts just a thread or two. You can do this and also use the rubber band.
•Start at the bottom on one side (one train), and work the first pivot into its hole. There must be some pressure on the pivot from the plate, so it will click in when it finds the hole. BUT NOT TOO MUCH. If it's too tight and you start forcing things around, you're liable to bend or break a pivot and have yourself a Situation.
•This is where the pivot getter comes in. It's not a crowbar...it's a guide for working pivots into holes. If it's a bit tight and you need to apply some pressure, PUSH ON THE PIVOT, NOT THE ARBOR BELOW THE PIVOT. If you push on the arbor, the pivot is liable to bend.
•After you've got the first one in place, go to the next one and proceed on up the train. Then go to the other train and do the same thing.
•After you have a pivot in place, check it by lifting the wheel and dropping it, to make sure everything is free.
•If you can't tell which one to work on next, test the candidates by gently moving them with your tool. The one that won't move is the one that's resting against the top plate. Work on it.
•As you work your way up the train, you can keep tightening the pillar nuts a little at a time, to hold everything in place.
•If something binds, stop and figure out what and why before proceeding.
•When you have all the pivots in place, and the top pillars seated in their holes, put on the other nuts. Before you cinch them down, use finger pressure to run the trains and make sure everything is free.
•Tighten down the pillar nuts.
