Default August/September Object - Strasser & Rohde Regulator

Regulator, c. 1898, Strasser and Rohde. Silvered dial reads, ”Auxiliary Clock.” Weight driven with three jar mercury pendulum. Pinwheel escapement. time only, sweep seconds hand. Oval glass window at bottom of black painted metal case. The clock will be featured in a major multi volume book on German Precision Pendulum Clocks, including a chapter on Strasser & Rohde. The author's research found a 1900 article in a German clockmakers journal describing (and illustrating) the Strasser & Rohde clock in the newly inaugurated Philadelphia City Hall.
