The Three Emperor's Corner - part eight - missed it :(

Missed a nice watch, I mean.
Today, having some extra money, I went to Cracov again to get a nice private label Swiss watch I've seen last time I was there (a few months ago...).

Right here, just by the restaurant tables, there is a watchmaker's estate where I've already bought some nice watches. Unfortunately, the watch turned out to be long gone when I finally could afford to buy it.
Well - no wonder, I guess - it was nice indeed and surely had to catch someone's eye.

Where it had been, there was now... a Hamilton.
Once again - is Cracov MADE OF American watches?
Every time I go there I find some American stuff instead of what I'm looking for,

That's the one.
It's not exactly tremendous, since it's a popular, lower grade model and it has a replaced case, but since I was already there, unwilling to go back without a trophy, it had to do.

According to database, this watch was made in 1947. Yes, looks like it was made around 1950, no doubt about it.

The well preserved dial has applied numbers, the 2 in the 12 is getting ready to fall off, it seems...

The case is a Wadsworth GF case made for Hamilton. No brassing, but non original crown, like I said.
And the movement:

The 917 size 10 'workhorse', made in quite some ammounts, is surely nothing special (wish it were 921), but surely, it's a very well made movement.

In key with the times, just some Geneva stripes on it, nothing very fancy.
The friction fitted jewel settings certainly add some class.

It's a Hamilton, so it's all perfect. Hamilton watches were well made and reliable, and even lowest grades were high quality and full jewelled. I'm rather glad to have a good looking specimen in my collection, though I'm still sad about the missed treasure. Well - whatever, you can't get them all, I guess
