  1. New Haven Clock I Want to Identify it Please

  2. A high grade, quite early Columbus

    Hi again!
I bought it as parts movement, but it's actually a high grade, nicely finished Columbus, so I thought maybe I could just add it to my collection.
Quite unfortunately, it's an early piece, with bearings in the potence screwed down from the top. These need short balance staffs, that are difficult to get.

So I decided to use a 16s watch staff.
I had to reduce the thickness of the balance hub, but unfortunatelty I still bent the balance slightly when riveting. ...

  3. The Three Emperor's Corner - part ten - an old rusty Jacot

This post is about another old watch from Imperial Russia I've found.
Again - it's a wreck. And a rusty wreck this time:

    Hopeless piece!
At first - I straightened the pivots. This was crucial - if a pivot broke, this watch would go to parts bin.
However - the pivots prooved soft and bendable. The top pivot is also ridiculously long - looks like a custom made staff.

  4. An old Swiss watch from Locle

What is a quick watch collector's association when he hears LeLocle Switzerland? Some would quickly say Charles Tissot, some would probably choose Georges Jacot and Zenith brand...
Yes, LeLocle surely is among the most famous watchmaking cities around the world.

Today's post, however, does not begin exactly in LeLocle - I'll get back to LeLocle later on.
Today's trip begins - once again - in Cracov.
Precisely - Szczepanski Square, right by the main square.

  5. Antique fair hunt on The Three Emperor's Corner (part nine)

Today, after some hard day and night work, I visited the monthly antique fair in Dabrowa Gornicza. Please forgive me - I'm not going to transliterate this one, as I might as well spent the whole night doing that, it's just a city neighbouring mine from north-east. So we remain at the far end of Russian empire.

One could think that on an antique fair on a post-Russia territory, one would find plenty of old Russia's watches, but no. In fact, I don't think there were that many watches ...
