Greetings, Listmates,

I know it is commonly thought that a fusee with a two-footed balance cock is not English, and rather Continental, in manufacture. However, today I was perusing some of my books and came upon several marine Chronometers, by Harrison, Mudge, and others, that had, yep, you guessed, it: two-footed balance cocks! My question is this: If such famous English Chronometer makers were using a two-footed balance cock on their super accurate fusees, instead of what we consider the normal British version, why wouldn't other, less famous English watchmakers do the same thing, if they wanted to?? Up to now, I've considered any watch that had a two-footed balance cock to be of other than English manufacture. Am I wrong to think this? Help, please. Many thanks, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc Mark
