<<National Watch and Clock Museum Awarded Pennsylvania Humanities and Museum Commission Grant Project Grant

The National Watch and Clock Museum has been awarded a grant of $4,971 from the Pennsylvania Humanities and Museum Commission for planning and implementation of a special exhibit, ?Town and Country: Clockmaking in Pennsylvania 1750-1850?. The exhibit will compare clockmaking between urban and rural Pennsylvania during the height of hand-made clock production. The exhibit will feature clocks, pictures and objects from the collections of the Museum and museums around the state. A large range of areas in Pennsylvania will be represented as well as a number of clockmakers. The exhibit will show how production and decorative styles differed throughout Pennsylvania and will demonstrate those characteristics that make clocks distinctively Pennsylvanian. The exhibit is scheduled to show from April 1, 2002 to October 1, 2002.
