I have developed an urge to collect 15 jewel key winds. This particular Illinois watch is one of the best time keepers I've ever owned.

What is the highest jeweled key wind made by the Illinois watch company and it's serial number range? Thanks if one can assist. Better photo.

Keith,

There are some early 16 jewel Bunn key winds.. That is the highest jewel count I have seen in a pure keywind.. ..

Terry, thanks for the question, transitionals too.

John, thanks for the response. Left my new guide at brother inlaws and just found the old one packed away.

Jewel count....

for some reason i was contemplating 'grade'.... need to refresh my reading comprehension....

if you include transitionals.... then it would go up to 17 jewels in a fifth pinion model....

John -

Do you have or know of a photo of a 16 jewel pure keywind Bunn?

I don't think I have seen one before.

Hey, can I butt into this thread with something that looks alot like a 15 jewel Illinois key winder, but isn't?

Prepare yourself. It's a real treasure.

You're welcome anytime Greg. Plate layout. Forgive me it was running when I took the shot.

PS...Fred, I thought John Cote had a photo of a 16 jewel key wind Bunn.

Hi Keith -

I remember John showing a 16 jewel Bunn before but the one I recall was a nickel stemwind.

Fred

p.s. Nice grade 5 Illinois there!

Thanks Fred, grade 5 it is......

I'm at least reasonably sure John C. has a 15 jewel Bunn key wind and it is nickel also (gorgeous watch as I recall).

Jon, this was Fred Hansen's original question to John Pavlik.

While not a Bunn, this is a 100-S 105 Look Alike Keywind. It is nominally a bit higher grade than a Bunn keywind of the period.
