Hi,
I got a 5 piece coin silver key wind PW the other day, and although it looks a little rough, I think I will like it. At least my early Elgin will have a home now, until I find one that she deserves. I can't get my cam camera to work on closeups, so I guess I can't get my pictures on. Man! this is making me crazy!
I got the PW on ebay (sorry for the curse word) but hey, I'm new to this, and there is no place here to buy pocket watches, other than those that should be tossed out. (No kidding)
It says it's an early one, (1880)but I have no idea, and the Pendant is missing, but it looks ok.
One of my friends is trying to get the thing off ebay into a jpg or other file, the only one I can get is bmp and I can't do anything with it. Where is my huge new computer when I need it!!!!!!!!!!!
Well just wanted to share what I got, well, one of them anyway. I got 3 more too. All 18s and most silver and super cheap!
Horay!!!!!!!!!!!!

NAHHH NAHHH NAHHH I got a watch case and you didn't!
Nanny nanny boo boo!!!!!! I got one on you, you!!!!

lolololololol
Sorry, can you tell I am thrilled?
Have a great night, maybe it was my son taking me out to dinner for mother's day? mmmmmmmmm

Hugs,
Sheila

Hi,
I have a sweet little honey to put in it, been looking for a while. But I always love to see new ones that I can "steal" from the net!
hehehehe
I got another one that has only the dial in it and can't wait, because I have no idea what it is, can't tell, but it looks a little unusual from what I CAN see!
Thanks you for the post,
Sheila

BMPs are editable using PAINT (comes with Windows as one of the included Accessories). Paint can read the BMP and Save As a .JPG, if you like. Personally, I think it does a poor job of conversion, but it's better than nothing.

Greg.
Thank you soooo much. This information is great! I had been looking for just that info. and couldn't find it in the index. (Not used to this temp. computer)I used to save them and they automatically downloaded in .JPG, but now they don't. I have no idea what I, or my son, did, but what a mess!
I had such elaborate photo access before, digital camera, programs, etc. Now I am stuck with learning all new, OLD stuff, but it will be worth it if I can get them on this computer.
Thank you again,
Sheila

Sheila,
If you right-clock on a web pic a menu comes up. Select "Save picture as". The window that now appears gives you the option at the bottom to save as bitmap or jpg. That`s if the web pic is in jpg format. Occassionally it`s a bmp and you can only save it as such.
I agree with Greg you can convert an image to jpg with "Paint" but the quality is rotten.
Below is a link to "Irfanview". This is an excellent image editor and it`s free. With it you can convert formats, crop, adjust color and contrast, resize, etc.

Kenny,
I'm finding that most of the pictures today are bmp, and they have to be changed.
Thank you so very much for the link, I will go there now and see what I can do. I have a ton of pictures and they are all bmp and I can't do a thing with them. Hope they come out good enough to see.
Thanks again,
Sheila

Sheila,
Actually the BMP format is superior to JPG. The image quality is better and it is a "lossless" format. The JPG loses some detail and gradually deteriates each time it is resaved. The BMP`s drawbacks are that the file size is much larger than JPG and therefore not as suitable for web use since it takes so long to load.
