Good evening:

I am looking for the part number (and/or part) for an Elgin 18S, serial #3447316, 7J, grade 96 pallet.

Two additional questions:

1) Are these still relatively easy to find in NOS or should I be looking for used?

2) If the pin from the pallet is broken off in the bottom (?) plate (dial part), what is the best way to make sure it is cleared from the hole before inserting the new pallet.

Thanks again!

Grant

Grant, one of the Elgin guys will probably be able to help you with that part no. There are several to chose from in the parts book but if I had to make a guess it would be the right angle pallet no. 616. You should be able to pick up a pallet from a scrap movement but they don't always work in as replacements without some work. The best way to make sure the broken arbor is out of the lower jewel is, at the very least, to remove and clean the top plate. If you've done any overhauls before I'm sure you realize that if you're going that far you might as well overhaul the entire watch. Jim.
