Terry et al:
I have read so many threads that I am a little confused. Could you clarify:
#8774 is a Ball & Co, were the rest that have been found in that run the same or were they private labels?
What markings were on the dials of the half dozen or so that were found from that run?
Thanks

Bill,
8701 - 8800 were all sold to W.C. Ball. Of these, some are marked "Official RR Standard, Ball & Co., Cleveland" while others have various private label markings in place of "Ball & Co., Cleveland".
I believe the dials are marked similar to the movements (private labels with private label markings on the dials).
Serial number 8774 shows being shipped on 4/23/1895.
Ed and I have the following in our data base:
8,711 - Adj, ORRS, Dial "Ball's Standard Dial Pat.Apld For"
8,732 - Adj, ORRS, Mvt & Dial "Marcy & Co. Indianapolis."
8,741 - Adj, ORRS, Mvt "A. Bach, Sandusky, O." Dial "Ball & Co." (reported 1999)
8,741 - Adj, ORRS, Mvt & Dial "A. Bach, Sandusky, O." (reported 2001)
8,742 - Adj, ORRS, Mvt & Dial "A. Bach, Sandusky, O."
8,745 - Adj, ORRS, Mvt "A. Bach, Sandusky, O." Dial "Ball & Co."
8,774 - Adj, ORRS
8,782 - Ball

DO YA HAVE PICS OF THE MVTS & DIALS FOR THE 8 WATCHES YOU LISTED IN THE 8700-8799 RANGE ??..(EXCLUDING OF COURSE 8774 WHICH I ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AS I OWN IT !!)
Buzz:
No, only the data that's listed. Ed and I reproduced a few pictures in the Bulletin several years back when we did the section on Ball private label watches.

Buzz,
To clarify, MVt and Dial marked Ball & Co.Cleveland on #8774
The only difference is the dial has a comma after the period and before Cleveland and the movement has no comma.

Seven years ago, this watch was reported to be missing its dial and in a sterling case.

An appropriate dial was located recently and has been reunited with the movement!
The dial was mismated on a differeent watch.
Movement and dial were located within 40 miles of each other.
In a stretch one could almost imagine that they were reunited.
I know that many hate restoring watches, but a watch without a dial certainly benefits from having a correct and appropriate dial mounted.
