Double-head bridge was not invented by Longines. The reason why one can find many
similar "double-head bridges"made by different watch-makers is because these
watches was made from the same ebauche.
EBAUCHE= The "rough-movement" which the
watch is made from.
These ebauches were made by companies
like le coultre and many more.
The company which were the first to
produce this "double-head bridge" I believe was the company AUBERT FRERES .
The first watch-maker to use this ebauche
I believe was Jules Jurgensen(around 1857).
But many watch-makers also used this ebauche (NARDIN ,JACOT,NICOUD)
This is the reason why one can find watches
by different makers with the same movement.
LONGINES used this "double-head bridge"
much later than JURGENSEN,NARDIN....
The "double-head bridge "movement became
popular and LONGINES "copied it
so they could sell more watches.
