View Full Version : 16s 17j Bunns?? Very many made?
I like what I call entry level RR approved watches,,ie cheaper and less popular than the Big Boys and I have my eye on a 16s 17jewel Bunn. I havent seen any others, were these very popular or outshadowed by the 19 and 21 j Specials.

Cary:
According to information in "American Pocket Watches Vol. 2, Illinois Watch Co., Encyclopedia and Price Guide," William Meggers, Jr. & Roy Ehrhardt, Heart of America Press, Kansas City, MO, 1985 (still in print - see Heart of America Press (http://www.hoapress.com)), there were only a couple of hundred hunting-case, 16-size, 17-jewel Bunns, but almost 12,000 open-face models.
If you intend to spend any serious amount of money on watches, you ought to arm yourself with some good reference books first.

Just to piggy back on what Kent said,
It makes a difference on how the open faced movement is marked,
If "TEMPERATURE" is spelled out, this is about 2000 movements.
If it is abbreviated "TEMP", then there were about 11,400 movements.
Hunters are low production, no matter what....
