There should be a Square Stud (http://www.knology.net/~ksinger/18s_15j_bwr_30514_setting_stud.jpg) on the center post to which the hands are afixed. You can set the time by turning it clockwise with the right size key.

I don't think so. I think that the hands can be set by turning them either way. I just wasn't really sure that you watch would set exactly the same as mine, and knew that there would be no problem going clockwise.

On any watch fitted with a ‘safety pinion’ (which I believe applies to almost all American watches) the hands can be turned either way. Earlier English watches may stop or even run backwards for a few seconds if the hands are turned counter-clockwise.

Hej,
The safety pinion would have no nfluence on the possibility to turn the hands counter-clockwise. If a watch or clock has any complications (s.a. strike, chime, alarum or even sometimes date) it's not always possible to turn the hands in this direction. In every other case this could be done without problem.
