Hi,
My OF 23J Howard SN 1,086,344 is obviosly a series 0, but it doesn't say so on the mvt. It is in need of a new lower pivot for the barrel arbor. It just wasn't there when I examined the movement after purchasing! I'll repivot the arbor, but it was in a poor condition so I can't determine the right dimensions properly. It looks as if someone has tried to solder a new pivot! The watch is otherwise in a rather good condition with a Keystone GF case. Maybe some of You experts could assist in giving me the proper measurements for the arbor? Ie. overall length, shoulder to shoulder; lower pivot diameter; height of the barrel above the lower shoulder. I'd be very grateful indeed, since this would save a lot of work for me in "trial and erroring". I suppose finding a new barrel and arbor is effort in vain.
The triple sunk dial is marked "made in Switzerland" on the backside. Is it original?
Peter

can't help with staff, but dial 'sounds' original.

keystone howard seemed to import their dials, most are marked as you state.

beta21,

The part number (102) for the barrel arbor is the same for series 0, 5, 10, and some model 2 Keystones. I would suggest that unless it is easy for you to repivot the one you have, it might be easier for you to search for a replacement arbor from one of the more common models. After you have given this matter some thought, get back to us because I think I might have a lead on a replacement for you.

Sorry for not notifying: It has a motor barrel with jewelled barrel arbor. Barrel and arbor is in one unit. Is this part also the same among the models mentioned? Is the part no still 102?

beta21,

I have sent you two pictures of a series 5 barrel under separate cover, since I don't know how to post pictures to this message board. The information I quoted you in my previous post is directly out of the 1909 Keystone parts catalog, and it gives the information as I gave it to you. The pictured part SHOULD be exactly he same as the series 0.

All,

By way of an update, I have today shipped the Keystone Howard series "0" mainspring barrel, arbor, and hub to beta21, in Sweden. The one he is replacing is quite a mess. I just happened to have a parts watch of which there isn't much left, but what he needed was there. I've asked beta21 to supply photographs of the "0" when he is finished with it.
