Hi just won this on ebay and was wondering if any one had info on the Fulton Watch Company. Brian Loomes's Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World has a listing for a Fulton Watch Company 1923 to 1924 in PA, USA. The watch movement and dial are stamped Swiss Made. I don't usually buy watches, but I love these sweep hand calendar watches and the price seemed right.
Thanks

That watch is from the 40s not the 20s.
I have a similar watch only an automatic that is from 1948. Fulton Watch Co. is likely a trademark sold in chain stores or retail jewelers. Nice watch.

Ranfft's pages show the import code "LOA" as belonging to "Emil Lange". The "Fulton" trademark was registered in the U.S. to "Mount Vernon Watch Co., Inc., NYC" in 1936. They were registering names up to 1955, so that would match the watch. The movement is an AS 1291 (http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&a&2uswk&AS_1291).

Thanks, this is great stuff! Is this the same Emil Lange of A. Lange & Sohne?

Update, I got a call from my watch repairer, Jorge Montoya, about the watch and I will have it by Sunday. The watch has suffered some abuse over the years and it took a bit of work to get it shipshape. Some jewels needed work, the bottom jewel had been pushed out due to improper hand setting, the barrel bushing needed work and there was a slight kink in the hair spring. All is repaired and she is keep very good time now. Interestingly the watch seems to have been gold plated when new. We were going to replate, but the cost was excessive. But I may do it at a later date

The Lange you refer to was the Lange of Glasshutte in Germany. That Lange was around 100 years or so before the Lange that is connected with your watch. Karl Kochmann's book on European Watch & Clock Co. trade marks lists many Langes in the watch business, all in Germany, and none in Switzerland. I doubt there is a connection.
